Wedding Dress Mini Sessions in Londonderry, NH
There is something so special about watching your little girl twirl around in your wedding dress. A dress that holds so many memories. A dress you wore on one of the most important days of your life. And now, years later, your daughter gets to create a memory of her own in that very same dress.
That was the inspiration behind my first-ever Wedding Dress Mini Sessions at The Social HQ Studio in Londonderry, New Hampshire. And let me tell you, these sessions were every bit as magical as I imagined they would be!
The Inspiration Behind These Wedding Dress Mini Sessions
Years and years ago, I photographed my own girls wearing MY wedding dress.
At the time, I knew those photos would be special. But looking back, I realize just how meaningful they truly are.
There is something about seeing your daughter in the dress you wore when you married her dad. It's a little glimpse into the past and future all at once.
So, I started thinking. Why not create this same experience for other moms and daughters?
Not just a photography session, but an entire experience. Something the girls would remember. Something the moms would treasure. And photos that families could hold onto for generations.
And just like that, the idea for these wedding dress mini sessions came to life!
A Magical Mother-Daughter Photography Experience in Londonderry, NH
For this first round of mini sessions, I welcomed six little girls from six different families. Each girl brought her mom's wedding gown. And each dress had its own story.
We planned approximately 45 minutes for each experience. The girls had their hair styled and enjoyed a little light makeup before stepping into their moms' beautiful white dresses.
Then came the fun! They twirled. They danced. They smiled. And they got to feel like absolute princesses. Some of these dresses were much too big for their tiny frames, but honestly, that was part of the magic.
These weren't just pretty white dresses. They were heirlooms. They were pieces of their families' stories. The same dresses their moms wore on the day they said, "I do."
And now, their daughters had their own special moment in them.
But do you know what might have been my favorite part of the entire experience?
Watching the moms.
The looks on their faces. The smiles. The joy that you could practically feel pouring out of their hearts.
It was one of those moments where I felt so lucky to be the person behind the camera.
Because while the girls were having their magical moment, the moms were experiencing something just as meaningful.
Why The Social HQ Studio Was Perfect for These New Hampshire Mini Sessions
We hosted these wedding dress photography sessions at The Social HQ Studio in Londonderry, NH, and I seriously cannot say enough about this space! If you're a photographer looking for a studio rental in Southern New Hampshire, this place is a dream.
The natural light alone is incredible. Seriously, SO much beautiful light! But beyond that, the studio offers a huge space with a variety of furniture, props, and décor. It gives you so many options to create different looks without needing to change locations.
For these mini sessions, it gave us the room to let the girls move, dance, and twirl in their moms' gowns.
And that was exactly what I wanted.
I didn't want these sessions to feel stiff or overly posed. I wanted the girls to have fun and enjoy the experience while I captured those genuine little moments.
The Social HQ Studio gave us the perfect setting to make that happen.
More Than Just Photos: Creating Family Heirlooms
As a New Hampshire family photographer, I love creating beautiful images. But even more than that, I love creating photographs that mean something.
And these wedding dress mini sessions were exactly that.
Years from now, these little girls will be older. Maybe they'll be planning weddings of their own. Maybe they'll look back at these photographs with their moms and remember how much fun they had.
And their moms will always have these images of their daughters wearing the same dresses they once walked down the aisle in.
That's the part that gets me.
These photos aren't just for today. They're for all the years ahead.
And that's why I knew, even before we finished the first session, that this was something I wanted to do again.
